Disable various UI features

This is as expected, opinionated, but it is intended to remove features that are by design just "extra clicks" and similar slowdowns.

The intent of e.g. Update Controls are that updates are installed at the user's discretion and the user knows what they are doing.

Cortana

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search. “Allow Cortana” -> Disabled

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer > Turn off display of recent search entries in the File Explorer search box > Enabled

Lock Screen

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization. “Do not display the lock screen” -> Enabled

Notifications/Telemetry

Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen Settings > Personalization > Start Settings > System > Notifications & Actions Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Feedback

Explorer

Explorer > View > Options > View > “Show sync provider notifications” - uncheck Explorer > Share > Share > Right-click “Show app suggestions" - uncheck Explorer > View > Hidden items - check Explorer > View > File name extensions - check

Update Control

Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Properties > “Set as metered connection” - On Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Change Active Hours Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Delivery Optimization > “Allow downloads from other PCs” - “PCs on my local network.”

Color

Settings > Personalization > Colors > Default App Mode > Dark Settings > Personalization > Colors > Choose accent colour > “Show accent color on the following surfaces” > “Title bars and window borders”

Sticky Keys

Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > “Use Sticky Keys” > “Allow the shortcut to start Sticky Keys” - uncheck Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > “Use Toggle Keys” > “Allow the shortcut to start Toggle Keys” - uncheck Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > “Use Filter Keys” > “Allow the shortcut to start Filter Keys” - uncheck
